FDI index (Fire Danger Index) describes danger of wildfire for vegetation covered countryside. There are five levels of danger: 1 - Very Low Risk, 2 - Low Risk, 3 - Moderate Risk, 4 - High Risk, 5 - Very High Risk. The higher the index value, the higher the risk of wildfire. As input date, the model uses measured values from the net of CHMI stations as well as ALADIN model predicted values. During processing the model compute upper soil profile moisture, surface moistening and the speed of spread of wildfire. |
Fire Danger Index: 3 - Moderate Risk: possible danger of wildfires covering area of tens of square meters (m2), lasting about hours. Recommendations: making fire in open space with enhanced caution only. 4 - High Risk: possible danger of wildfires covering area of hundreds of square meters (m2), lasting about tens of hours. Recommendations: do not make fire in open space. 5 - Very High Risk: possible danger of wildfires covering area of hundreds hectares (ha), lasting about days. Recommendations: strongly recommended not to make fire in open space, be attentive of enhanced risk in limited accessibility areas and in forests.
