The main activities at the Tušimice observatory are:
- monitoring of air polluting substances,
- observation of meteorological parameters in the atmospheric boundary layer,
- operation of synoptical and climatological measuring station integrated in the CHMI measurement network.
Service center responsible for maintenance and repair of AIM stations situated in regions of Most, Louny, Chomutov, Karlovy Vary, Sokolov and Cheb, is located in Tušimice observatory. The observatory further participates in operation of the Smog Warning and Regulatory System (SWRS) covering the area of Pokrušnohoří in nothern and western Bohemia. In accordance to this activity, it is worth to stress out use of sodar which is able to monitor occurance of inversions and dispersion conditions in the vicinity of large power plants.
